Our mission is to create access to a dental home for under-served children whose families face barriers in obtaining oral health care. This includes preventing dental issues as well as fixing them so that a child’s smile can be restored and pain diminished so they are better prepared to learn at school. Parallel to this mission is that our school-based dental services be provided in a safe and compassionate manner with the same standard of care patients receive in a traditional office setting.

We have served hundreds of thousands of children since 1997. Some of the largest school districts in the country are our partners in bridging the gap between providers and the children who need them most.  We also provide mobile dental services to other child-focused  facilities including residential treatment centers, group homes and out-of-home placement programs.

We have been a partner in the recipient of grants and sponsorships to help sustain our mission.  We thank fine institutions such as include Kaiser, Delta Dental, Rotary International, The Institute for Family Medicine and Henry Schein.

No child should be at a learning disadvantage relative to their peers due to the inability to access proper healthcare services.  Schools already realize that for a child to learn, they need to be properly fed and healthy.  That's why free meals are provided to children who need it.  Through Big Smiles schools have an easy solution for meeting oral health needs as well.
